Olive Marie Sleva

Olive Marie Sleva passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Olive is survived by her children: Jeff (Nina), Mark (Patti), Mary (Mark), Gail, and David. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Danielle, Michael, Carling, Tristan, Samantha, Benjamin, Emma, Austin, Brittany, Marissa, and Tyler. Great grandmother to: Alyssa, Madelyn, Tommy Jr., Julian, and Leo.

Olive was predeceased by her husband Walter Sr., son Walter Jr., her Mother Pearl, Angels Sarah & Bradley; her sisters: Ruth, Bernice, Irene, Gerri, and Helen; and her brothers Lefty and Eddie.

Olive was born in Cleveland, Ohio during the Depression. Olive and Walter were married for over 60 wonderful years and she always dedicated her life to raising her 6 children. Olive made certain that her children had the best care and the greatest advice that a mother can provide to her loved ones.

Olive was always an incredibly strong, independent, and ethical person. She loved to socialize by playing pinochle with our aunt and uncle and bingo in many Churches. Olive had the cleanest home in the neighborhood and the one that every neighbor’s child loved to visit. Later in life, Olive would play Rummy for hours on Sunday (always holding an extra Ace or two). Every Friday she would be at the Longhorn or Cracker Barrel and made room for Pumpkin pie and coffee on the weekend.

During the pandemic, Olive volunteered to stay with her husband to provide all of help that she could muster during those trying times. After Dad passed, Olive spent the remainder of her wonderful life with God’s greatest staff at the East Park Assisted Living in Brook Park. These people became her second family. There was a lot of love shared between Olive and each of these wonderful, hard-working people.

Olive’s love, laughter, great stories will be in our hearts forever. As Mom would say: “between you, me, and the lamppost” I really loved my husband, my children, and my friends. “All I ask is that everyone treats one another with love and respect.”

Family and friends received on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 9:00 - 10:00 AM at St Ambrose Catholic Church; 929 Pearl Rd, Brunswick, OH 44212 with Funeral Services following at 10:00 AM at St Ambrose Catholic Church.  Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at a later time.
